Clarity

Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 5, 2026  ·  Ian Phillip

The short version: Clarity processes everything on your device. We do not have servers that store your conversations, values, or goals. We cannot read your data because we never receive it.

Who we are

Clarity is published by Ian Phillip, an independent developer. You can reach us at support@discover-clarity.app.

What Clarity collects

Clarity stores the following data on your device only, using Apple's SwiftData framework:

This data lives in your app's local container. It is not transmitted to us or any third party.

What Clarity does not collect

We do not collect, receive, or process:

Clarity does not use any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or crash reporting services.

Subscriptions and payments

Clarity offers optional paid subscriptions (Personal and Executive) processed entirely through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. We never see your payment details. Apple's privacy policy governs that transaction data: apple.com/legal/privacy.

The only information we receive from Apple is a non-reversible transaction identifier confirming whether a subscription is active — no name, no payment method, no email address.

iCloud and backups

Clarity does not currently use iCloud sync. If your device backs up to iCloud, your Clarity data may be included in that backup under Apple's standard iCloud terms. You can exclude Clarity from iCloud backup in Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage.

Data retention and deletion

Your data exists only on your device. To delete it:

Because we hold no copy of your data, we cannot restore it after deletion.

Children's privacy

Clarity is rated 4+ on the App Store. The app does not knowingly collect personal data from children. Because all data remains on-device and is never transmitted to us, our architecture inherently limits any privacy risk regardless of user age.

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Because we hold no personal data on our servers, most data subject rights (access, portability, rectification, erasure) are fulfilled by controlling your own device. If you have a question or concern, contact us at privacy@discover-clarity.app.

California residents: Clarity does not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA. We do not share personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising.

EEA/UK residents: Ian Phillip is the data controller for any minimal data processed in the context of App Store transactions (handled by Apple as processor). The lawful basis is contract performance (providing the app you downloaded).

Security

Data on your device is protected by iOS's standard encryption (encrypted at rest when the device is locked). We recommend enabling a device passcode and Face ID or Touch ID for additional protection.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the app or App Store release notes. Continued use of Clarity after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
